Courageous people led by Wayne Hsuing saved the Ridglan Farms beagles. Ridglan Farms sold beagles for research. The dogs were subjected to horrible conditions and tests. Even in freedom, many are still suffering. From 2022-2025 Ridglan sold more than 6800 dogs to universities, corporations and others. Wayne Hsiung and colleagues entered the facility in spring 2026 for an "open rescue." They were arrested and 47 people face felony charges. This group braved tear gas and may face jail time. "Half-Blind Dog, 12, Survives After Fighting Off a Bear to Protect Her Family and Dozens of Farm Animals," People Magazine
